DAY ONE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2021

OPENING NIGHT 9/7 – HARLEM’S FASHION ROW
JUNE 79
The first newcomer to NYFW via Harlem’s Fashion Row that resounds with me is June 79, helmed by Creative Director Shawn Pean. His focus is on refreshing luxury, luxury that’s constructed from lush fabrics, beautifully tailored but not stiff, and always soothing to the eye. Nothing here screams at you. Yet it’s novel, and comfortably creative and individual. The melding of sharp tailoring and modern silhouettes keeps everything looking young and modern. NYC manufactured, this brand has a lot of white space in front of it to capture, and it undoubtedly will. I hope and expect to see much more from them.

DAY 1, WEDNESDAY 9/8
TEDDY VONRANSON
Today’s pick to watch is menswear designer, Teddy Vonranson. After 15 years at Ralph Lauren, his namesake collection represents modern, American classics in a very vibrant light. Inspired equally by the east and west coast, there is a synergy that blends both perfectly, with a standout understanding of color and texture. A majority of this sustainable collection is manufactured locally in New York and his soft tailoring, suiting drapes beautifully. Vonranson also presented many hand painted garments adding levels of dimension. Interesting juxtaposition of serious concept with very glowing product that echoed brilliantly throughout the room.
